A few of the characters in this week’s new releases have an identity crisis. Some might forget what happened after a night of partying, while others deal with never really knowing themselves or their parents. Other films premiering in theaters this week are based on real life, but seem almost too extraordinary to be true.
Brad Pitt, Jonah Hill, Philip Seymour Hoffman, and Robin Wright star in Moneyball. The PG-13 film takes on the idea that baseball teams don’t need to have big money to get big wins. Pitt plays Oakland A’s manager Billy Beane, who, along with the help of an Ivy League grad (Hill), revamps his team with players other clubs wouldn’t consider. The drama is based on a true story and on Michael Lewis’s book. It plays for two hours and six minutes.
