Pearl Jam and beer go together, according to an indie brewery in the U.S. In commemoration of the band's 20th year anniversary, Dogfish Head brewery released "Faithful Ale".
Dogfish Head Craft brewery announced recently that it will release this October -- Faithful Ale -- "a Belgian style golden ale delicately hopped to 20 IBUs and fruit-forward from 10 incremental additions of black currants over a one-hour boil. Faithful will clock in at 7% ABV."
The Delaware based brewing company also plans to re-release their two previous music-inspired beers: Robert Johnson's Hellhound on My Ale and Miles Davis' Bitches Brew. Dogfish Head celebrated legendary blues-man Robert Johnson's centennial birthday on May 8, 2011, with the "super-hoppy brewery inspired ale". In June 2010, the brewing company revered Miles Davis epic jazz recording of the same title with "a gustatory analog to Miles' masterpiece."
In a statement from the company's website, Dogfish Head President & Founder Sam Calagione quoted -- "To me, Ten is the perfect example of a record-lover's-record. The whole thing rocks... As an off-centered brewery, we believe in celebrating the breadth of our whole portfolio and we feel an affinity for Pearl Jam a long-player band in a singles-obsessed world."
In addition, Dogfish Head announced that it will donate $20,000 to The Nature Conservancy, a US charitable environmental organization that works for the preservation of natural community, plants and animals. This is in acknowledgement of Pearl Jam's similar approach on community-building, ethics and continuous commitment to "put music first before commerce."
Pearl Jam and its debut album "Ten" mark its 20th year anniversary on breaking into the mainstream in 2011. The band completed filming Pearl Jam Twenty, a Cameron Crowe rock documentary in April 2011-- using 12,000 hours of footage. The film premiered in September at the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival and is scheduled for US release on October 21.
The rockumentary follows the band's history from the dissolution of Gossard and Ament's previous band Mother Love Bone to the controversy against distribution company Ticketmaster, including the Roskilde Festival tragedy in 2000. The band's documentary film will also have an accompanying book and soundtrack.
