In the film, starring Rutger Hauer, Michel York and Charlotte Rampling, Polish filmmaker discusses the old paintings and is interested in a painting by Pieter Bruegel: the procession to Calvary (1564). The screenplay, written by Lech Majewski and Michael Gibson, is inspired by the stories of 500 characters represented in table 12. The Director of the photography was in the hands of Adam Silora and the images blend traditional techniques and new technologies.
